I’m hoping that The Fat Duck cookbook will find its way under the Christmas tree this year. Happy reading!!

I’m very jealous. The fat duck book looks like a tremendous tome. If I had the disposable income it would be a no brainer but such is the life of a cook huh.

It really is the FAT duck cookbook.
I had to leave my scooter at home, and drive the car to work just to be able to bring mine home. I only had a chance to skim through it briefly in the chef’s office, and was quick to agree with Michael Ruhlman’s typecasting of it as a vanity book… then I finally glanced through the last 25% of the text which is filled with essays by scholars and scientists on the subjects of food and science… incredible. I’m off for 2 days now, and ready to dive in. Maybe we’ll both get sucked into the animated storyline like some esurance commercial.

Why is it that you’ve gotten your copy of a book before me yet again? Mine is slated to arrive today assuming that the mail carrier doesn’t pop something hauling it over (that and Wakiya’s cookbook).
But I digress… when’s your take on snail porridge and flammable desserts? Thanksgiving and XMas are coming.

How’s “On the Line” look? I read a press release about it, but haven’t talked to anyone who looked through it.

Angela- leave your door open…Santa will have a hard time fitting this one down the chimney
Diego- one of the perks of freelancing is I get to write this off as research
Chad- I’m having a hard time picturing you on a scooter
Ivan- I motivate my mailman with cookies
Nathan- So far, I’ve only just browsed through it. My impression is that it is a well organized window into a successful, tightlly-run kitchen with interesting photography. Just as with all of these books, I’m looking forward to finding time to go through it cover-to-cover.
